Mike Noel: Mike began rowing with Booth Memorial in 2008, and later started training with the Canada Games rowing crew. After successfully making the team, Mike rowed in the Men’s 4x at Canada Games. Most recently, Mike won gold and silvers medals with the Newfoundland men’s 8+ at the 2010 Head of the Hooch Regatta in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is a dedicated rower, whose hard work in the gym has raised his skill level and strength over the past number of years.
Zach Meaney: With only a little over a year’s rowing experience under his belt, Zach was selected for the men’s 8+ and 4x boats which competed at the 2009 Canada Games. The men’s 8+ qualified for the ‘A’ finals and finished a respectable 6th overall. Zach has competed at a number of mainland regattas, including the Eastern Interprovincial Championships in Montreal and the Atlantic Championships in Dartmouth, NS. Zach is an approachable, knowledgeable coach who has trained athletes who have gone onto success rowing for the junior provincial team.
Alan Butler: Alan first started rowing with Booth Memorial in 2005, but first competed for the province at the 2006 Atlantic Championships in Dartmouth, NS. In particular, Alan was a member of the 2007 AURC Memorial University men’s crew which edged out Dalhousie University for the overall title. His passion and enthusiasm for the sport of rowing is known to rub off on his athletes.
Practice times: Tuesdays 5:00 – 6:30 pm and Saturdays from 3:00 – 4:45 pm
