Adult rowing update

Adult rowers (and anyone else who may be interested in joining adult rowing) – this message went out fall 2018 to those whose email addresses we have:

A follow-up to the message sent a few days ago regarding the coaching shortage for adult Learn-to-row. For on-the-water sessions, there is still a shortage that can only be filled after the 2018 summer coaches are hired by mid-June, with a schedule of adult novice rowing to be determined for July and August. In fairness, for that session we will adjust the fees to a lower cost and we will be in touch with you personally this week if you have already paid the full season fee online. We do appreciate your patience and understanding in this situation.

It is a priority goal of the SJRC to build a base of adult rowers and reinforce the number of experienced rowers in our community. Experienced adult rowers would support our recreational or competitive SJRC programs of the future, but may also have the interest to train as entry level coaches. Having a pool of trained folks would help us in the future to support adult rowing in the spring and fall months before, during or after the summer coaching contracts. The SJRC recognizes this growth is a long term process and we have learned a few key lessons this spring alone, in terms of building our capacity for the adult programs.

If you have immediate concerns or questions, please reply to my email with a cc to the SJRC email ([email protected]) and copy Ann Dorward ([email protected]).
