Available positions for Spring/Summer 2023:
Program Coordinator
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of the implementation, structure, and operation of all of SJRC’s rowing programs. Our goal is to recruit, develop and produce a community of active-for-life rowers and competitive rowers, the latter of whom compete and succeed at local, regional and national regattas. We also aim to develop a team of coaches that is well trained through an established coach development pathway. The Program Coordinator reports to and takes direction from the SJRC Board of Directors. The Program Coordinator is responsible for managing, overseeing, leading, and enhancing the Club’s Rowing Programs and the coaching team that deliver the programs.
Remuneration: $17.00/hour
Dates: April 15 – September 2, 2023 with possibility of extension*
Position type:
- Full-time work (30-40 hrs/week) between May 1 and Sept. 2, 2023. Part-time work between April 15-30, 2023. *Part-time contract extension into the fall and winter contingent upon club funding availability.
- We anticipate the position to be covered by a Canada Summer Jobs contract which would entail a minimum of 16 full-time weeks (35 hrs/week).
- Daytime, evening, and weekend hours required.
Head Coach
The Head Coach is responsible for providing day-to-day training and supervision of SJRC rowing program participants, and mentoring of assistant coaching staff. Our goal is to recruit, develop and produce a community of active-for-life and competitive rowers, the latter of whom compete and succeed at local, regional, and national regattas. The Head Coach reports and takes direction from the SJRC Program Coordinator and the SJRC Board of Directors. The Head Coach is responsible for overseeing, leading, and enhancing the club’s rowing programs.
Remuneration: $16.00/hour
Dates: May 1 – September 2, 2023 with possibility of extension*
Position type:
- Full-time work (30+ hrs/week) between May 1 and Sept. 2, 2023.
- We anticipate the position to be covered by a Canada Summer Jobs contract which would entail a minimum of 8 full-time weeks (30 hrs/week). *Part-time contract extension into the fall and winter contingent upon club funding availability.
- Daytime, evening, and weekend hours required.
Assistant Coach (3-5 Positions)
The Assistant Coach is responsible for the day-to-day coaching and implementation of program initiatives as directed by the SJRC Program Coordinator and ensures that they are carried out in a manner consistent with SJRC club policies established by the Board of Directors. Under the direction of the Head Coach and Program Coordinator, the Assistant Coach will coordinate and supervise a team of rowing athletes to deliver quality programming for SJRC rowing participants and their families.
Remuneration: $15.50/hour
Dates: May 1 – September 2, 2023 with possibility of extension*
Position type:
- Combination of 6-8 full-time weeks (30+ hrs/week) and 10-12 part-time weeks of work (<30 hrs/week) *Part-time contract extension into the fall and winter contingent upon club funding availability.
- We anticipate these positions covered by Canada Summer Jobs (aged 15-30) and NL Gov youth employment contracts (high school or post-secondary students).
- Daytime, evenings, and weekend hours required.
