The junior competitive team offers athletes an opportunity to improve his or her rowing skills and begin to represent the province and club at competitive regattas. A significant focus of the junior team is Canada Games, but various other regattas are also emphasized throughout the year.
Athletes participating in the junior competitive program are required to have some rowing experience and have displayed both a dedication to the sport of rowing and the required training. Previous participation in the Junior Developmental program is a key indicator to the required dedication. Both on-water and ergometer criteria are put in place by the coaching staff to determine a rower’s ability and to assist in boat and crew selection. The junior team will travel to a variety of competitive regattas with a focus on developing racing skills and becoming comfortable with the racing environment.
