Junior Competitive

Junior Competitive is the program for more advanced youth rowers who will be eligible to compete in the 2021 Canada Games (born in 2001 or later). Athletes must have rowing experience and have displayed both a dedication to the sport of rowing and participated in required fitness training.

Athletes who have participated in the Learn-to-Row and Youth Development programs may move on to the Junior Competitive on the recommendation of the club coaches. Both on-water and ergometer criteria are put in place by the coaching staff to determine a rower’s ability and to assist in boat and crew selection. The Junior Competitive rowers will travel to a variety of competitive regattas, with a focus on developing racing skills and becoming comfortable with the racing environment. A swim test is required for any athlete under 16 years of age.

Tryouts for the program are usually held on an annual basis, open to current Junior Competitive and Youth Development athletes. Tryout dates will be posted in advance.
