The Junior Competitive program offers athletes an opportunity to improve their rowing skills and begin to represent the province and club at competitive regattas. The long-run focus of the program is the 2021 Canada Games.
Athletes participating in the Junior Competitive program are required to have some rowing experience and have displayed both a dedication to the sport of rowing and the required training. Athletes who have participated in the Learn-to-Row and Youth Development programs may move on to the Junior Competitive on the recommendation of the club coaches. Both on-water and ergometer criteria are put in place by the coaching staff to determine a rower’s ability and to assist in boat and crew selection. The Junior Competitive rowers will travel to a variety of competitive regattas with a focus on developing racing skills and becoming comfortable with the racing environment.
For the most recent schedule of practices, please see the SJRC home page.
