Are you looking for a rewarding summer employment experience in the sport of rowing?

The St. John’s Rowing Club is looking for motivated, enthusiastic and energetic individuals for our summer recreational programs. Employees have excellent opportunities for training in the areas of leadership, professional development, administration, interpersonal relations, coaching development and much more. This position will allow you to utilize your knowledge and skills of rowing to teach others the sport we love.

Positions available include:

  • Head/Senior Boathouse Manager (Supervisory)
  • Recreation Instructor (3 positions) – Youth and Summer Programs
  • Additional program staff (as funds allow)

Annual General Meeting 2017

Please join the St. John’s Rowing Club at our Annual General Meeting on Sunday, April 23, 2-4pm. The meeting will take place in the Quidi Vidi Boathouse Museum (upstairs).

Atlantic Rowing Championships

On October 15 and 16 the Lochaber Center will be hosting the 2016 Atlantic Rowing Championships and Atlantic University Rowing Championships. The Lochaber Center is home to the Antigonish Rowing Club and the StFX Rowing Club. Athletes from the St. John’s Rowing Club and Memorial University’s rowing team will be representing St. John’s and Newfoundland.

For the information of those athletes there is a preliminary cost breakdown for the trip that can be found here. A meeting will be held at 8:30pm Sunday, September 11, at the boathouse. Athletes are encouraged to attend this meeting. Results from this regatta will be used as part of selection for Canada Games.

We look forward to an exciting and enjoyable regatta with many excellent results from our athletes!

Fall Season 2016

Summer may be coming to an end but rowing is not yet! The fall season for rowing will begin Wednesday, September 7th. The schedules have been updated on individual program’s pages. Notably, the adult recreation program has been reduced to 3 days a week; Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday mornings.

Summer Season 2016

Summer is here and the summer rowing season is about to begin! Starting Monday, July 4th 2016, the club’s open hours will be extended to accommodate the summer season and schedule. This means that the Youth Learn to Row and High School programs will be starting on this day.

Additionally, the Adult Recreational program will have extra practice times added: Monday and Friday 6-7:15am, Monday 6:45-8pm, and Wednesday 5:30-6:45pm. For individual program times check out the respective program’s page.

The summer schedule will be in effect until late August or early September. Expect an official date to be posted in August.

Adult Rec – Spring 2016

The Adult Recreational program will be starting this Sunday, May 22! For the Spring season practice times will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:30-8pm, and Sunday mornings, 10-11:30am.

Annual General Meeting 2016

Warmer temperatures and a thawed lake are fast approaching. This means the new rowing season will soon start! In preparation for this the club will be hosting it’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday, April 3, 3-5pm. The meeting will take place in the Quidi Vidi Boathouse museum (upstairs).

We invite all members and those interested to attend! There will be a review of the previous season and highlights for the upcoming season.
