Summer may be coming to an end but rowing is not yet! The fall season for rowing will begin Wednesday, September 7th. The schedules have been updated on individual program’s pages. Notably, the adult recreation program has been reduced to 3 days a week; Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday mornings.

Summer is here and the summer rowing season is about to begin! Starting Monday, July 4th 2016, the club’s open hours will be extended to accommodate the summer season and schedule. This means that the Youth Learn to Row and High School programs will be starting on this day.
Additionally, the Adult Recreational program will have extra practice times added: Monday and Friday 6-7:15am, Monday 6:45-8pm, and Wednesday 5:30-6:45pm. For individual program times check out the respective program’s page.
The summer schedule will be in effect until late August or early September. Expect an official date to be posted in August.

The Adult Recreational program will be starting this Sunday, May 22! For the Spring season practice times will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:30-8pm, and Sunday mornings, 10-11:30am.

The St. John’s Rowing Club is looking for motivated, enthusiastic and energetic individuals for our summer recreational programs. Employees have excellent opportunities for training in the areas of leadership, professional development, administration, interpersonal relations, coaching development and much more. This position will allow you to utilize you knowledge and skills of rowing to teach others the sport we love.
Positions available include:
- Head/Senior Boathouse Manager (Supervisory)
- Assistant Boathouse Manager (Supervisory)
- Recreation Instructor (2 positions) – Youth and Summer Programs
- Additional program staff (as funds allow)

Warmer temperatures and a thawed lake are fast approaching. This means the new rowing season will soon start! In preparation for this the club will be hosting it’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday, April 3, 3-5pm. The meeting will take place in the Quidi Vidi Boathouse museum (upstairs).
We invite all members and those interested to attend! There will be a review of the previous season and highlights for the upcoming season.

Winter training is well under way at the Quidi Vidi Boathouse. Starting this week a new schedule has been created to better accommodate our athletes. For more information about our winter training program see our previous news posting.

New updates on winter training at the boathouse!
The lake may be cold and frozen but our erg room is warm and sweaty. We are pleased to announce that starting January 18th, and running until the end of April, the St. John’s Rowing Club will be hosting winter training at the boathouse. This opportunity allows for excellent physical activity with a structured program and guidance from our wonderful coaches. Improve your fitness and rowing technique in a supportive environment. This program is suitable for all ages, all levels of fitness, and all levels of rowing technique. Everyone is welcome!
The boathouse will be open on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays (not Tuesdays as previously stated), and Thursdays for members to participate. The weekday times are 6-8pm and Sundays are 10am-12pm. The fees for winter training will be $125 per person for the entire duration (January through to the end of April). The St. John’s Rowing Club and the Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee are pleased to have reached an agreement where rowers from both organizations will have access to the boathouse during the winter season. Access to rowing machines and coaching for the purposes of training and conditioning will be available through to the end of April. The start date and fee structure is expected to be finalized within the coming week with an anticipated start in mid January! Stay tuned for more updates!
