Junior Development/

Competitive:

Who: This program is designed for junior rowers between the ages of 12-18. All experience levels are welcome. Athletes who rowed in the Jr Competitive, Jr Development, and Youth Learn to Row programs during the 2023-24 season fit in this program stream.

What: The sessions aim to prepare athletes for the on-water season by building cardiovascular strength, endurance, and body mechanics in a supportive and inclusive environment led by experienced coaches.

When: Practices are 3x/week from beginning of January until the end of March 2024. (Mon/Thurs 6:30-8pm and 1 weekend practice)

Where: Sessions will take place at Islander Athletics, 57 Old Penneywell Road in St. John’s.

Materials required: Comfortable clothing, sneakers, and water bottle.

Cost: $325 + RCA/RNL membership dues ($57.25/year)*

*Anyone who was registered for an SJRC program between April 1 and January 31, 2023 is exempt from the RCA/RNL membership dues and must only pay the program fee of $325

Adult

Who: All experience levels are welcome! This program is an excellent fit for those who participated in the Adult Masters, Adult Rec, or Adult Learn to Row programs in the on-water season.

What: The program offers a specialized training plan aimed at enhancing cardiovascular strength, endurance, and refining body mechanics. Participants will receive structured guidance to progress towards peak performance on the water in the upcoming spring season. This unique approach fosters a peer-support environment, where individuals collaborate and support each other in achieving their goals.

When: Practices are 2x/week from beginning of January until the end of March 2024. (Tuesday 6:30-8pm/Thursday 8-9:30pm).

Where: Sessions will take place at Islander Athletics, 57 Old Penneywell Road in St. John’s.

Cost: $250 + RCA/RNL membership dues ($57.25/year)*
